Two power options are available to the XTend-PKG-U RF Modem:
The external power must supply a DC voltage between 7 and 28 V. The power supply currently
shipped with XTend Development Kits and Accessories Packages is a suitable power supply for this
option.
XTend-PKG-U RF Modem automatically selects “Self-powered Mode” if power is available on the
power connector when the modem is connected to USB. Do not disconnect the external power
source without first disconnecting the modem from the USB connector.
In “Bus-powered Mode”, power levels up to and including 100 mW are available. In “Self-powered
Mode”, all power levels are available. If an attempt is made to transmit above 100 mW in bus-pow-
ered mode, the module will set the transmit power to 100 mW and issue a warning. Refer to the
WN (Warning) command for more information [p38].
