• The connector’s housing, sealing and locking mechanism protect the connection from external influences
such as mechanical shocks, foreign bodies, humidity, dust, water and other fluids.
• The degree of protection is explained in IEC 60529, DIN EN60529 (DIN 40050) standards that categorize
connections according to foreign body and water protection.
• The degree of protection is indicated by IP (International Protection) followed by 2 digits (see example
below):
