Legends & Soldering
Legend & Engraving Information
Engraved Legends
Legends are engraved on the front surface of the lens cap
and ink filled. Red, blue, green, black, and gray colored
lens caps are filled with white ink. All other colors are filled
with black ink.
Engraving type is condensed gothic, with standard 0.125"
by 0.020" stroke.
Legend Arrangements
Note 1: Use part number 92-956 or 92-958 with standard IP 40 units; part number 92-941 with IP 67 sealed units.
Soldering Instructions
Correct soldering techniques are important to the reliable operation of EAO switches.
Hand Soldering
Soldering Temperature
A soldering iron with a temperature controlled tip is recommended, if not available, do not use a soldering iron that is rated more
than 15-20 watts. In any circumstance, the iron must never exceed 662°F (350°C). Soldering of a terminal should not exceed
3 seconds. Excess heat or time will damage switch contacts or draw flux into contact area.
Use of flux
EAO recommends elimination of flux entirely. However, if flux is preferred, use only a small amount. Terminals are gold plated or have
Optalloy, assuring easy soldering.
Caution
Use of solvents to clean flux from solder joints may cause contact contamination by leaving flux residues on the contact. The switch
element plastic material will not be affected by leaving resides of flux. If a solvent must be used, isopropyl alcohol is recommended.
