7.7
On the connector “U15” [16] you can connect a toslink type optical cable coming from a digital audio source like a
CD, DAT or minidisc player (S/PDIF). This source can be sent to the DAC part of the CODEC via the audio
interface. Two different sampling frequencies can be chosen from the “GUI” (basically 44-48Khz and 22-24Khz)
which depends on the sample frequency sent by the source.
In this configuration, the Digital audio interface must become the Master for the CODEC system clock by putting the
jumper “mck” [7] to the left.
7.8
Three main sources of clock can be put into the CODEC. The first one comes from an onboard quartz “u17” [21].
The second one comes from the digital audio input. The jumper “mck” permits you to choose between the two clock
sources.
The third one is an external source of clock that can be applied to the “ext clock” connector [9]. The voltage level of
the external clock should have the same level as the actual supply voltage of the CODEC (e.g. 1.8 V). The jumper
“sysclk” [8] select between the “ext clock” [9] or the two other sources of clock[7].
