Three inter-integrated circuit (I2C) headers with pull-up resistors—J14, J15, and J17
on-board to showcase the I2C capabilities of this development kit. These standard I2C interface signals are directly
connected to the Fusion FPGA and can extend the capabilities of this embedded system.
Any standard I2C controller can be implemented or instantiated in the Fusion FPGA to allow communication with the
I2C interface. In addition, the Actel IP catalog includes various programmable I2C controllers, specifically CoreI2C,
with an APB interface that can be instantiated in the FPGA design with a Cortex-M1 embedded processor. The
CoreI2C controller supports both Master and Slave modes with configurable parameters for various applications. The
board is populated with an OLED display with I2C interfaces so you can evaluate the ability of the M1-enabled Fusion
advanced system to communicate with an I2C device on this development kit.
