The system also includes a contingency in case the battery within the Atmel
ATA5790-EK1 PEPS Transmitter is discharged.
To observe this, remove its battery and place the immobilizer coil aligned and near to the Atmel ATA5272-EK1 Basestation coil
(shown in
Figure 2-5 on page
13). Pressing SW0 will trigger the passive start function as before. However, because the system
did not receive an RF response due to the removed battery it will time-out and try the Immobilizer function next. This time LED6
will illuminate indicating the back up immobilizer was the source of authentication to start the engine. This is also animated on
the PC GUI as shown in
Figure
2-7.
