Ferrites are a big factor in enter-
tainment electronics. You find
them in the line output and diode
split transformers of TV sets and
monitors, for example, in storage
chokes and interference suppres-
sion components.
In line output transformers, ferrites
are particularly indispensable,
helping to generate the necessary
voltages for deflection coil and
picture tube. That means big
demands of the ferrite material in
terms of saturation response, mini-
mum losses and Curie temperature.
UR cores are the number one
choice here, because they offer
sufficient winding space, and
are simple to wind too.
Low-cost U cores, on the other
hand, are mostly used for inter-
ference suppressor filters and
chokes in radios and TVs.
