Testing the Throttle Position Sensor Voltage
The throttle position sensor sends a signal to the
computer indicating the position of the throttle. To test the
throttle position sensor:

Insert test leads in the input terminals shown in
Figure 16.
Turn the ignition KEY ON but the ENGINE OFF
(KOEO).
Set the rotary switch to
times to step to the 6 V range.
Press B and E to enable peak MIN MAX
mode.
Connect the test leads as shown Figure 16.
Rotate the throttle plate to full open and back to the
throttle stop to test the full motion of the sensor.
Press B to read the minimum and maximum
values.

Testing the Throttle Position Sensor Resistance

Insert test leads in the input terminals shown in
Figure 16.
Set the rotary switch to N.
Press C to select Manual range. Press C to
repeatedly to stip to the 6 k range.
Connect the test leads as shown in Figure 16.
Rotate the throttle position sensor by moving the
throttle.
Look at the display and read the bar graph.
As you rotate the throttle position sensor to change
resistance, the display should move smoothly (not
erratically).
