11.4 Waveform type: File

The final waveform type is a user defined text file that contains the integer data representation of
the waveform. Most of the options have been described above, so only the additional options are
noted below.
Open File
When the “Open File” button is clicked, a file name is selected and the user is prompted
through a series of dialogs to select the desired data column from the text file. The data
must be integer values in decimal or hex (as selected by the user). The number of data
values must be from 16 to 65500. Note that more data values mean a better
representation of a waveform, but limit the maximum frequency of the waveform. Since
the samples/cycles is fixed, the waveform frequency is dependent on the clock frequency
(“Freq Hz” = “Conv Rate Hz”/# data samples).
Note that until a filename is selected for the first time, all the options are disabled.
Scale/Crop Data
The user uses the combo box either to scale file waveform data into the waveform data
adjust range or to crop file waveform data outside the data adjust range.
