7.1 Memory
The SAA7803 is the firmware development platform for the SAA7804 and SAA7806
devices.

The development memories are organized differently from the SAA7804 and SAA7806
ARM ROM, the address range is identical i.e. 8 kB locations but the development
memories are 16 bits wide rather than the 32-bit width of the ARM ROM. The SMIU
compensates for this variation in location widths, avoiding the need for different address
ranges between the software for the mask programmable ARM ROM and the
development software. Pin INT_EX_ROM is used to select between the onboard ARM
ROM memory and the MCMs external memories.
