Digitized voice transmission represented by octets (8-bit fields) generally numbers bits left to right, 0–7,
respectively. Data is transmitted serially starting at the most significant bit (left-most bit, numbered bit 0) and
proceeding to the right-most bit (least significant bit, numbered bit 8) of the sample. The receiver receives the most
significant bit first.
