These bits control the direction of the associated port pin. Port alternate function operation overrides the
data direction register setting.
0 = Output
1 = Input
PHDE[7:0] – Port High Drive Enabled
0 = The port pin is configured for standard output current drive.
1 = The port pin is configured for high output current drive.

The port pin is sampled and the value written into the Port A–H input data register. The out-
put driver is high impedance.

Setting the bits in the Port A–H high drive enable registers (see Table 16) to 1, configures
the specified port pins for high current output drive operation. The Port A–H high drive
enable registers affect the pins directly and as a result, alternate functions are also affected.
The Port A–H alternate function high and low registers (see Tables 17 and 18) select the
