Concept
The Hot Standby system controls a group of I/O drops on a remote I/O (RIO) network.
The local rack of each primary and standby PLC requires a 140 CPU ppp pp CPU,
a 140 CRP 931 00 RIO head-end adaptor module and a 140 CHS 110 00 Hot Standby
module. It is recommended that I/Os not be used on the local rack as they will not be
taken into account when switching from one PLC to the other.
The two 140 CHS 110 00 modules are connected to one another by a special fiber
optic cable. This link enables the standby PLC to maintain the current system status
of the primary PLC. The two RIO head-end adaptor modules are connected to the
RIO trunk cable via the MA 0186 100 splitter box.
The Hot Standby system also accepts a redundant RIO cable topology. The two
coaxial cables, from the two 140 CRP 932 00 head-end adaptors, on each of the two
PLCs, are connected to the redundant RIO cable by two separate MA 0186 100
splitter boxes.
