6.1. TYPICAL APPLICATIONS

A Thin-Client is a terminal running ICA

streaming approach is used for sending the
keyboard/mouse/USB data to the server.

These protocols have room for dedicated data
channels in case the terminal is not ’thin’ and can
execute
optimizing the bandwidth usage. For example, if a
terminal has browsing or MPEG decoding
capability, the server will provide internet source
files or MPEG streaming.
The same hardware can run X-terminal protocol
and can be reconfigured by the server when
booting on the network by uploading a different
OS and application.
