2.2.13 COP/JTAG Connection
Either of two options can establish connection to the COP port of the PowerQUICC II:
COP/JTAG connector or a parallel port of a PC. The COP/JTAG connector requires a
command converter, and the second option connects directly to the parallel port of a PC and
eliminates the need for one. The selection is done automatically. If a cable is connected to
the parallel port in a PC, this connection has priority over the COP/JTAG connector.
2.2.14 Forced Parallel Port Connection
In some computers, because the parallel port does not comply fully with the parallel port
standard, the connection of a cable to the parallel port connector (P27) does not
automatically switch the COP/JTAG connection to the PC. Jumper JP12 is used to force the
parallel port connection in such cases. When a jumper is placed between positions 1–2 of
JP12, the parallel port connection mode is forced. When a jumper is placed between
positions 2–3 of JP12, the parallel port connection mode is not forced (see Figure 2-10).
2.2.15 Power On/Off Switch
Switching SW4 causes power-on reset or power-off.
