manual offset calibration. There is no provision for manual gain calibration.
The ADC Control register 0 (ADCCTL0) initiates the analog-to-digital conversion and
provides ADC status information. See

Description
ADC Start / Busy
Writing to 0 has no effect.
Reading a 0 indicates the ADC is available to begin a conversion.
Writing to 1 starts a conversion.
Reading a 1 indicates a conversion is currently in progress.
Reserved—Must Be 0.
Reference Enable
Internal reference voltage is disabled allowing an external reference
voltage to be used by the ADC.
Internal reference voltage for the ADC is enabled. The internal reference
voltage can be measured on the VREF pin.
ADC Enable
ADC is disabled for low power operation.
ADC is enabled for normal use.
Reserved—Must Be 0.
