At this point, go ahead and make sure the serial select switch is in the DOWN position, so the PC can talk to the PIC thru
the USB serial port.
There are many serial terminal programs available (HyperTerminal for example), but we want you to use one that is very
SIMPLE to setup and that works well with the Chameleon PIC, we are going to use “PuTTY”. From the DVD-ROM, install
this program:
DVD-ROM:\ CHAM_PIC \ TOOLS \ COMMUNICATIONS \ putty_install.exe
It is called “PuTTY” and is very easy to use. Once installed, it will create a shortcut on your desktop. Click the shortcut to
run the program, you will see a dialog like that shown in Figure 15.54.
