FCHK.S – Floating Point Check for Special Values
Description
Checks the floating point operand specified for the special values Infinity, Not-a-Number and
Denormal. A check is also performed for values with the two biggest possible representable
exponents, i.e. 0xFD and 0xFE. This is useful for avoiding overflow in intermediate calculations
in certain iterative algorithms. The operation sets the status flags according to the result of the
check, but does not affect the operand register.
