Selection of one of the four permissible framing formats is performed by bits FMR4.FM0
and FMR4.FM1. These formats are:

The operating mode of the FALC54 is selected by programming the carrier data rate and
characteristics, line code, multiframe structure, and signaling scheme.
The FALC54 implements all of the standard and/or common framing structures PCM 24
(T1, 1544 kbit/s) carriers. These are summarized in table 6, along with the signaling
types applicable in each of the multiframe formats. “General signaling” refers to the
support the FALC54 provides for handling the data link or service bits, as the case may
be, in the multiframe.
