This circuit works by measuring the capacitance of the LCD frontplane (FP) or backplane
(BP) connection and comparing it to a reference number. This reference number is
usually measured at the user's production facility (by this circuit) and stored for later
comparison in the flash. The comparison must account for fluctuations due to
temperature, voltage, and other environmental effects. Intelligent software may be able to
account for these effects more accurately by using time-dependent algorithms; but the
basic comparison to a factory-measured number should be sufficient for most
applications.
